Howard Edwin Marshall

HOWARD EDWIN MARSHALL
Howard Edwin Marshall was born on June 28, 1953, in Marshall, Arkansas, to Howard and Cordelia (Knight) Marshall. He passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, October 14, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.
Howard and his wife, Carol, shared 36 years together, of which they were married for 26 years. Their relationship was built on love, partnership, and trust.
Howard could fix anything. He could build a hot rod you wouldn’t even believe he was so skilled. There wasn’t anything he couldn’t fix. He was on the adventurous side; from hanging off the side of cliffs on a wire while working on pipelines, to racing hot rods.
His dad gave him a 1967 Chevy Impala when he was a teenager, and he caved in the fender racing; he won the race, but still he paid a price for winning. A little bit later, he knocked out the glass and took it to the racetrack. Needless to say, his dad told him he wouldn’t be buying him any more vehicles. Despite his passion for racing and building hot rods, Howard also took meticulous care of a 1952 Ford Custom that had belonged to his grandmother, showing honor and love for family.
Howard’s strong work ethic was established at a young age. He began working alongside his father, cutting and hauling logs, and at twelve years old, he was driving log trucks. The hard work he was taught at a young age by his father, he was able to continue the tradition, instilling hard work in his own children. Always encouraging them and supporting them to do their best. To some, he was their hero.
Howard was also known for his straightforward nature. He was quick to let others know where they stood with him if he didn’t like you, he would let you know. However, his heart was generous, and he was a friend to many. If he loved you, he did so fully and with all his heart.
Howard is preceded in death by his parents. Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Carol, children, Andrea Melton, Heather Fendley, Michelle Smiley, Brandi Long, Donald E. Davis, Joshua Marshall, many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, sisters, Jolene and Sharon Jean, other relatives, and friends.
