Jacquline Henry of Greenbrier

Jacquline Gibbs Henry, age 82 of Greenbrier, Arkansas died on July 5, 2023 after losing a battle with cancer. She was the fourth born child to Jack and Ruth Hurley Gibbs, born on November 20, 1940. Even though she thought she was born in October for most of her life.

She married Noah Clifton “Chip” Henry on September 1, 1958.

She was a 1959 graduate of Leslie High School.

As a child, she attended Leslie Methodist Church, and then she attended Faith Baptist Church in Greenbrier, Arkansas later on in life.

Early in her life she worked at the Flintrock Shirt factory.

She then helped Marshall Elementary set up their first breakfast program. Then she proceeded to work for Jerome and Hyacinth Jenkins in the Sears Business.

Eventually, she and Chip bought the Sears Franchise which later became a Western Auto Store. We always joke that Chip knew where everyone lived in Searcy County because he had to deliver every stove, refrigerator and washer and dryer that Jack sold. They absolutely loved the store and the people of Searcy County.

Her most enjoyment came from watching her grandkids play in the store, taking them to swimming lessons at the Marshall pool, getting the kid’s meals from Sonic, then putting them all down for a nap while still helping every customer that came in the door. Chip would occasionally pop the grandkids’ popcorn, but Jack was the superwoman that kept everything going.

They moved to Greenbrier when Chip got sick in 2005 to be closer to their kids. Soon after Chip passed away, Jack adventured back to Searcy County to work as a Medtec for Marshal Medic Pharmacy.

Again, she was in her element of being around the people of Searcy County. She finally retired when she was 78. She came to the conclusion that if she didn’t retire all of her children would be retired, and she would still be working. She wanted to be home to enjoy her great grandbabies.

Survivors include her son, Timmy Henry (Lisa) of Greenbrier, daughters, Tresa Henry Virden (Terry) of Gardendale, Texas and Trena Henry Jones (Terry) of Greenbrier; Brother, Robert Gibbs of Indianapolis, Indiana; sisters, Peggy Sparks of Conway, Anne Koonce of Clinton, Esther Lee Wimberly of Oak Grove, Willeen Yielding of Perryville, Charlene Dawson of Grove, Oklahoma, and Mary Jane Mayes of Tulsa Oklahoma; grandchildren, Jenna Hicks (Brian), Heather Jones Harmon, Tarren Henry Freeman (Dusty), Trenton Henry Virden, Taylor Hamilton (Garrett), and Noah Tylar Virden; great grandchildren, Ashlyn Nash, Olli Harmon, Blakely Davis, and Paityn Hamilton; and a host of extended families and friends.
