Janie Catherine Newton, age 80 of St. Joe, Arkansas died on Sunday, July 14, 2024 at Creekside at the Springs in Yellville, Arkansas. She was born in Kaufman, Texas on May 11, 1944 to JV Taylor and Mary Jane Vincent Taylor.

She spent her working years at Levi’s and Flintrock. She was an excellent seamstress and enjoyed sewing. Her joyful, outgoing personality will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

Survivors include her children, Stephen Wright (Kim) of Marshall, J.W. Newton of Marshall, Tammy Hendricks of Greenbrier, Tommie Baker (Leonard) of St. Joe and Brandy Oliver (Harry) of Marshall; nineteen grandchildren; twenty-seven great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; and sister, Patricia Godo of Dallas, TX.

She is preceded in death by her parents, JV and Mary Jane Taylor; husband, Leon Newton; daughters, Cathy Wright Long and Peggy Wright; two great grandchildren, Brookley Oliver and Kruz Oliver; and sister, Verna Jo Hickman.

Graveside memorial services will be 1:00 p.m. Saturday, July 20, 2024 at Chinquapin Cemetery near Welcome Home, Arkansas.
