Karen Shipman of Marshall

Karen Sue Hubbard Shipman, born on December 19, 1946, in Marshall, AR, died peacefully on March 4, 2024, surrounded by her loved ones in Indianapolis, IN. She was the beloved daughter of Thomas and Edwina Potts Shipman.

She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend.

A graduate of Marshall High School class of 1964, she pursued a successful career, retiring from Blue Cross and Blue Shield. She later worked at M Plan and Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield, leaving a mark of professionalism and dedication in all her endeavors.

Aside from her professional achievements, she was passionate about giving back to her community. She enjoyed volunteering at Changing Footprints and participating in the Susan G. Komen race for the cure. Her adventurous spirit extended to volunteering for special events such as the Superbowl and Jazz Festivals in Indianapolis. Her love for travel and exploration took her to 49 states and across Europe, she was especially fond of National Parks and Historical Sites.

She will be deeply missed and forever remembered for her kindness, generosity, and unwavering love for her family and community. May her spirit guide and inspire us all to live with the same compassion and selflessness she embodied.

Survivors include her devoted husband, true love, and companion of 48 years, Oliver Wayne Hubbard II, and her children David Pack (Kelly), Oliver Wayne Hubbard III (Melanie), and Stephanie Hubbard (John Hutchison.) Her legacy lives on through her grandchildren: Damon Maynard, Ethan Hubbard, Joseph Stull, Elizabeth Hubbard, Warren Hubbard, Caleb Hubbard, and Alyssa Hubbard. She is also survived by her siblings Ewanda Shipman Young (Jim), Charles Shipman (Sharon), Jeane Shipman Dalmut (Danny), Richard Shipman, and Joe Shipman. She is preceded in death by her nephew, Ashley Dashiell Shipman, and niece Meghan Dalmut Estep. Despite the sorrow of these losses, she faced life with grace and resilience, leaving a lasting impact on all who knew her. Particularly her many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews, whom she held dear.

No services will be held, at her request.
