Lavern Ray Goodman, 87, of Marshall, Ark., passed from this earthly life on Sunday, March 30, 2025, at Highland Court in Marshall. She was born in Marshall on August 1, 1937, to Loyd Ragland and Edith Gasaway Ragland.
 Lavern worked at the shirt factory in Marshall for many years. She worked hard to provide and raise five kids on her own. Her dedication to her family and hard work ethic were traits passed on to those closest to her. She enjoyed working in her garden, watching the birds and drinking coffee. Lavern loved spending time with her family and grandkids.
 Survivors include her children, Kathy Smith (Ron) of Cabot, James Watson of Marshall, Teresa Coombe (Doug) of Rosebud and Joy Dawn Horn (Steve) of Valley Springs; 14 grandkids; nine great-grandkids; brothers, Charles Ragland, Clifton Ragland, Clif Ragland and Roy Dale Ragland; and many extended family and friends who will also mourn her passing.
 Lavern is preceded in death by her parents, Loyd and Edith Ragland; her daughter, Ruby Gail Sutterfield; and brother, Troy Ragland.
 Funeral services for Lavern will be 11 a.m., Wednesday, April 2, 2025, at Roller-Coffman Chapel in Marshall with Bro. Duane Ragland officiating. Visitation will be 10 till 11 a.m. preceding the service. Burial will be in Red Hill Cemetery near Marshall. Bearers will be Michael Watson, Josh Sutterfield, Darryl Ragland, Darren Ragland, Brandon Coombe and Owen Scribner. Honorary bearers are Charles Ragland, Troy Ragland, Clifton Ragland, Roy Dale Ragland, Dalton Horn and Clif Ragland.
