Dr. R. Niles Rains of Green Forest, Arkansas was born August 8, 1938, in Leslie, Arkansas to Perry Lee Ulis and Sallie (Overstreet) Rains. He died June 24, 2022, in Green Forest at the age of 83.

He was a member of the Gideons and Lions Club. He enjoyed collecting stringed musical instruments, antique cars, going fishing, and cattle farming. But mostly, he loved to be around his family and grandchildren. April 3, 1971, he was united in marriage to Rose “Kathy” Rains.

Survivors include his wife Rose “Kathy” Rains of the home; children, Niles Rains and wife Lisa, Danny Rains and wife Casey, Kristen Davis and husband Danny; brother, Paul Rains and wife Ellen, Will Rains and wife LuLu; sister, Grace Haymes, Mary Scheulen; grandchildren, Sam Davis, Claire Davis, Tyler Davis, Finnegan Rains, Cooper Rains; along with many nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents Ulis and Sally Rains; sister, Virginia Watts.

Visitation was 5:00 p.m. until 7:00, Thursday, June 30, 2022, at Nelson’s Green Forest Chapel. Funeral Service was 10:00 a.m., Friday, July 1, 2022, at Nelson’s Green Forest Chapel with Pastor Matthew Spate officiating.
