Russell Goodman of St. Joe

Russell Lee Goodman, age 79 of St. Joe, Arkansas died on Tuesday, August 6, 2024 at his home surrounded by his wife, kids and his beloved dog, Sissy. He was born in Tomahawk, Arkansas on October 12, 1944 to Claude Goodman and Mary Magdalene Reed Goodman. He met his lifelong partner, Helen Sue Woods in June of 1966. They wed in November of 1967 and to this union were born four children, Tammy, Jackie, Melissa and Russell.
He attended Tomahawk Baptist Church for over 30 years. He spent his working years as a logger and a farmer.
He was a quiet, hardworking man who provided well for his family. He had a strong work ethic and raised his children to be hard workers. There was never a free moment or a dull moment at the Goodman Farm.
He was a community minded man who was always willing to lend a helping hand to friends and neighbors. He was a veteran of the United States National Guard. He loved the Lord and the Arkansas Razorbacks.
He loved his family and his one desire was for them to do well in life. His strong presence will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Sue Goodman of the home; children, Tammy Taylor (Eric) of Hector, Jackie Goodman of St. Joe, Melissa George (Larry) of Hector and Russell Sheridan Goodman (Kaitlin) of St. Joe; grandchildren, Michael Taylor (Mallory), Ashley Taylor, Kellie Baker (William), Justin Grinder (Emma), Austin Grinder, Blake George, Makenzie George, Hazel Goodman and Hatch Goodman; greatgrandchildren, Reese, Beckett, Giovani, Erin, Bryce, Madison, Collins and Tate; sisters, Claudia Hastings and Sarah Younger (Charles); his lifelong four legged companion, Sissy; and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, extended family and friends who will also mourn his passing.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Claude and Mary Goodman; and siblings, Mary Helen Barnett, Nellie Marie Jane Kinslow, Claude Goodman Jr. and LeRoy Franklin Goodman.
Funeral services for him were 10:00 a.m. Saturday, August 10, 2024 at Roller-Coffman Chapel in Marshall, Arkansas with Bro. Shane Warden officiating. Visitation was from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Friday, August 9, 2024 in the Chapel. Burial was in Tomahawk Cemetery in St. Joe, Arkansas. The pallbearers were Justin Grinder, Austin Grinder, Blake George, William Baker, Bobby Woods and Michael Taylor. Honorary pallbearers were Russell Sheridan Goodman, Larry George, Eric Taylor, Hatch Goodman, Beckett Baker, Giovani Ramirez and Tate Taylor.
